Phi Phi Island, Thailand

YACHT DESTINATION

PARADISE UNVEILED

The Phi Phi Islands are situated in the Andaman Sea and are famous for natural beauty and rich marine life. This is a group of islands located in Krabi Province in southern Thailand and is the ideal tourist destination for marine activities, exploration, and relaxation.

Main Attractions on Phi Phi Islands

Visit Maya Bay

From 2018 to 2022, Maya Bay was closed to tourists. It has subsequently reopened with a new vision and strategy. This closure was necessary not only for the rehabilitation of its delicate ecosystem, but also to reconsider how tourists interacted with the area. For decades, Maya Bay was a popular tourist destination near Koh Phi Phi Island in Southern Thailand, which contributed to its degradation.

The famous Maya Bay (from the movie The Beach) is in Kho Phi Phi Leh. Surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, with crystal-clear waters and coral reefs, the beach makes it the perfect snorkeling and diving destination for all.

Maya Bay’s entrance cost is 400 THB (about. $12) for adults and 200 THB (approx. $6) for children. Fees help pay for environmental protection projects. This was one of the most beautiful places on the island. Unfortunately, the bay was completely overtaken by hundreds of boats carrying thousands of tourists. That is why it is recommended to be early if possible.

Visit Phi Phi Leh Lagoon

This lagoon is a stunning natural pool surrounded by high cliffs, offering sheltered waters ideal for swimming and kayaking. Unlike Maya Bay, there is no entrance fee to enjoy the lagoon, making it a popular choice for those seeking a tranquil escape. The lagoon’s accessibility for non-swimmers and its scenic beauty makes it a top choice for families and adventure seekers alike.

Visit Monkey Beach

Monkey Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Powder white sands and excellent diving makes this a popular spot, but the coolest thing about it is the monkeys that come down to the beach. While enjoying the natural wonders of the beach, remember to maintain a safe distance from the local wildlife, including the playful yet mischievous monkeys on Monkey Beach. Always secure your belongings and avoid feeding the animals to prevent unpredictable behaviors.

Hike to Phi Phi Viewpoint

Hiking to the Phi Phi Viewpoint is one of the top things to do when you visit the Phi Phi Islands. This spot offers one of the best views you can imagine. From the top, you can see the whole island with its stunning beaches and clear blue waters.

To avoid the crowds and have a more peaceful experience, it’s a good idea to go early in the morning or during less busy times. One of the best times to go is early at 5 o’clock in the morning. Yes, it’s super early, but you get to see a beautiful sunrise from the top, which makes it totally worth it.

If you’re not a morning person, you could also go at midday. It will be hot, so make sure to bring water and wear sunscreen, but you might find it’s less crowded then too.

No matter when you go, the hike to the Phi Phi Viewpoint is something you shouldn’t miss. The path might be a bit challenging, but reaching the top and seeing the incredible view is an unforgettable experience. It’s definitely a highlight for anyone visiting the Phi Phi Islands.

Go diving or snorkeling

There are plenty of great diving sites around Ko Phi Phi, including at Hin Muang, which boasts the highest vertical wall in Thailand at 60 meters (197 feet). Leopard sharks, whale sharks, manta rays, and reef sharks patrol the depths, but the site’s crowning glory is a huge purple rock.

Visit Bamboo Island

In case you seek a quiet and beautiful place near the Phi Phi Islands, Bamboo Island is the place to go. This small island is well renowned for its beautiful coral garden called Hin Klang. All in all, I would recommend spending at least a day at this rather extraordinary underwater area.

The beaches on Bamboo Island are some of the best ones, much better than beaches one can find in the more touristy areas of Phi Phi. These have fine, powdery sand and very clean, azure waters that make you want to be there forever. It is the ideal spot where one can just lie down and sunbathe.

If you wish to go to Bamboo Island, there is an entrance fee of 400 THB ($12) or so. However, most day trips that you can book will have this fee as part of their package. The price for a regular day trip to Bamboo Island is 1,800 THB (approximately 55 USD). These trips are usually comprehensive; they encompass everything that you would want, including the boat trip to the island and back as well as lunch sometimes.

In conclusion, it is really enjoyable to spend one day on the island of Bamboo. It is not too crowded as some of the other tourist sites and is perfect for a day of swimming and snorkeling and generally relaxing on one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere.

Visit the TongSai Bay

One of the best things to do in Tonsai Bay is to walk up the hill nearby. The walk up is worth it because you get to see the whole bay from above. The view is amazing, with bright blue water and green islands all around. It’s best to go up the hill early in the morning or later in the afternoon because it’s cooler then. The middle of the day can get really hot, which makes the walk up harder.

Tonsai Bay itself is always busy and fun. There are lots of places to eat, with food from Thailand and other countries too. At night, there are shops and bars open, so there’s always something to do.

Even though there are a lot otourists, Tonsai Bay still feels like a part of Thailand. It’s important to be nice and respectful to the people who live there and to take care of the beaches and nature.

Getting to Tonsai Bay is easy. Boats go there all the time from Krabi and Phuket. This means you can get to the bay quickly and start your holiday.

Watch A Fire Show On The Beach

After you’re done with dinner, the beach has another treat in store: the fire show. It’s a cool way to spend the evening, watching local performers play with fire. They swing and twirl flaming ropes and sticks, lighting up the night. The beat of background music adds to the vibe, making it feel like a beach party. Grab a drink, maybe a cold beer or a local cocktail, and settle down on the sand. It’s laid-back fun, and something different to enjoy on Koh Phi Phi.

Best Islands Around Phi Phi

Bamboo Island

Known for its powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters, Bamboo Island stands as a quintessential tropical getaway. This small, flat island is surrounded by coral reefs, making it a perfect spot for snorkeling. Bamboo Island is part of the Hat Nopparat Thara National Park; therefore, you’ll need to pay to access the island. Entry fees are THB 400 for adults and THB 200 for children, contributing to the maintenance and preservation of this idyllic spot. Visitors can relax on the beach or engage in various water sports.

Phi Phi Don Island

As the largest island in the Phi Phi archipelago, Phi Phi Don is the only island with permanent inhabitants and offers a range of amenities including resorts, shops, and restaurants. Phi Phi Don is where all the tourists from Ao Nang and Phuket arrive. Getting there is quite easy. The island’s beaches are perfect for sunbathing, while the vibrant nightlife attracts those looking to experience Thailand’s famed beach parties.
