FAQ bareboat charter in Thailand
Even if it is Thailand, we will not rent out a bareboat to anybody.
The insurance requires a certain level of qualification (license) and/or experience.
A rule of thumb is you must have skippered a similar size boat beforehand for a minimum of 4 weeks and a skipper license equivalent to RYA Coastal Skipper or higher!
The license is not required by all companies, so please enquire.
Should your level of experience not qualify to rent a bareboat, please do not worry, we can always find a solution. There is always the option to book one of our experienced skippers.
Just let us know which boat you like and tell us about your level of experience and/or qualification. In 95% of the cases, it is enough to charter a bareboat in Thailand.
Unknown sailing destinations, navigation hazards, and different laws and rules. Scary isn't it?
No problem, you will get a thorough briefing about the area, laws, rules and we will show you where to sail and where NOT to sail.
We have been doing this for many years and can proudly say that everybody always came back alive 😉
If you should still feel unsafe, there is always the option to take one of our experienced skippers, either for only a couple of days till you feel safe or for the entire trip.
Like always, if you have any concerns, just shoot us a message and we are here to help you!

All year round the waters surrounding Phuket offer ideal sailing conditions.
November to April is the peak season with favorable winds from the NE and from May to October, the green season, the SW winds prevail.
The popular Phang Nga Bay, Krabi, the southern islands, the Phi Phi Islands and the Similan Islands, are perfectly safe for a sailing holiday and amazing to discover.
Please note that the Similan Islands are closed during the green season from mid-May to mid-October.
We also offer bareboat charters in other parts of Thailand:
The green season starts later in the southern Gulf of Thailand, on the East coast. The best time to sail here is from February till October.
The northern Gulf of Thailand, like Jomtien, Pattaya, Koh Chang, etc., offers the best sailing from January to June.
You see, you can do a bareboat charter in Thailand all year around. Each sailing area has its own attractions and you should have seen them all, to be honest.
This is a difficult question!
To make it simple, every area has its own beauty and own highlights.
Our recommendation is: Do 3 bareboat charters in Thailand at 3 different times, so you got all covered.

Not sure if every bareboat in Thailand is insured, BUT WE ONLY OFFER INSURED BAREBOAT CHARTERS.
Even the most experienced, highest qualified captains can hit an uncharted rock, floating net, etc.
This is the simple reason why we only offer insured charters, so you and we are on the safe side.
You will be asked for a security deposit, which you can pay by credit card or cash at the office.
If you return the yacht in the same condition, you will get your deposit back. Always check for any damages to the yacht before you leave on the trip and point it out to the base manager.
This is unfortunately unavoidable and can happen.
A modern yacht contains many pieces of machinery and equipment, which have to work in a harsh marine environment.
Although our yachts are very well maintained, equipment breakdown can still occur.
There are spare parts and tools on every boat to get the easiest breakages repaired within seconds. If it is not possible we will send staff to assist if it is a major problem.
All in all, the boats are in pristine shape and get hauled out and maintained after every season. So in most cases, you won't have any issues.
